About Uttara South

Uttara South sits at the southern entrance of Uttara Model Town, close to the historically busy House Building bus stand intersection. It serves Sectors 3 and 4 plus the southern fringe of Sector 1 and the eastern Azampur area.

The station opened on 31 March 2023 and acts as the main gateway between the metro and the dense bus and CNG auto-rickshaw network of southern Uttara — local long-distance and intercity buses from northern Bangladesh terminate around the House Building area.

Uttara South is an elevated station with twin concourses connected to both sides of the Airport Road, easing the usually congested east-west pedestrian crossings.

Connections and transfers

MRT Line 6 — direct trains north (towards Uttara North) and south (towards Motijheel). No transfers needed for any L6 station.

Dhaka public buses — local BRTC and private bus routes serve the surface roads adjacent to Uttara South. Look for the signposted bus stand on either side of the road outside the station entrances.

Rickshaws and CNG auto-rickshaws — readily available at every entrance; useful for short hops to neighbourhoods not directly on the metro alignment.

No direct shuttle to the airport from the station today. Hazrat Shahjalal International is about 10–12 minutes by CNG or taxi via Airport Road.
The House Building intersection just outside the station is one of the major surface terminals for buses to Tongi, Gazipur and northern Bangladesh.
About 33 minutes direct on MRT Line 6. Fare ৳90 single journey.
Uttara South is served by the same trains as the rest of MRT Line 6. From Sunday to Thursday and on Saturdays the first train leaves Uttara North at 06:30 and Motijheel at 07:15; the last leaves Uttara North at 21:50 and Motijheel at 22:30. On Fridays the first trains are at 15:00 and 15:20, with the same last departures. Trains come every 5–6 minutes at the busiest times and every 20 at the very start and end of the day. DMTCL publishes terminal times only, not a time per station.
