About Karwan Bazar

Karwan Bazar serves the heart of Dhaka's largest wholesale market — the famous Karwan Bazar kitchen and produce wholesale, which supplies a large portion of the city's fresh produce, fish and meat.

The area is also Bangladesh's major media district — the head offices of Prothom Alo, The Daily Star, several TV stations and Petrobangla are within a short walk.

Looking ahead, Karwan Bazar is planned as the interchange with MRT Line 5 (Southern Route) — making it one of the most important multi-line stations of the future network. The station opened on 31 December 2023 — together with Shahbag, the last of the 16 stations to enter service.
