The first segment opened on 28 December 2022 (Uttara North → Agargaon), with the full route to Motijheel becoming operational on 4 November 2023. An extension from Motijheel to Kamalapur railway station — adding one further stop and connecting with the planned MRT Lines 1, 2 and 4 — is under construction.

Operating hours: 07:10 – 21:00 Saturday–Thursday, reduced service 15:00 – 21:00 on Fridays. Fares range from ৳20 (1–2 stations) to ৳100 (full route). The rolling stock is operated by DMTCL (Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited), a state-owned company under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges of Bangladesh.
