About Agargaon

Agargaon is one of the most important stations on MRT Line 6 outside the central business district. It serves the heart of Sher-e-Bangla Nagar — the official administrative quarter of Bangladesh — and is just across the road from the iconic IDB Bhaban (Islamic Development Bank office tower).

Within walking distance you have the Bangladesh Election Commission, the National Board of Revenue, the Bangladesh Computer Council, BG Press, the Bangladesh Cricket Board office and several ministries.

Agargaon is also a planned future interchange with MRT Line 5 (Northern Route), which will share the station with a connected concourse when Line 5N opens (expected late this decade). It is a high-priority station for DMTCL operations.

MRT Line 6 — direct trains north (towards Uttara North) and south (towards Motijheel). No transfers needed for any L6 station.

Dhaka public buses — local BRTC and private bus routes serve the surface roads adjacent to Agargaon. Look for the signposted bus stand on either side of the road outside the station entrances.

Rickshaws and CNG auto-rickshaws — readily available at every entrance; useful for short hops to neighbourhoods not directly on the metro alignment.

Future MRT lines — Dhaka’s planned metro network (Lines 1, 2, 4 and 5N/5S) will add several interchanges over the coming years. See our network map for planned connections.
