About Bijoy Sarani

Bijoy Sarani takes its name from the major east-west avenue it crosses — Bijoy Sarani, literally Victory Avenue, commemorating Bangladesh's 1971 Liberation War victory. The station opened with the southern extension on 4 November 2023.

The area around the station includes the historic Tejgaon Airport (now used as a Bangladesh Air Force base and the domestic terminal), the Bangladesh Air Force Museum, the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre and the famous Crescent Lake adjacent to the National Parliament.

Bijoy Sarani is an elevated through-station with pedestrian bridges connecting both sides of the avenue — important here because Bijoy Sarani is one of the busiest crossings in Dhaka.
