Overview

Lalbagh Fort is an unfinished 17th-century Mughal citadel in Old Dhaka, begun in 1678 by Prince Muhammad Azam and never completed after the death of Pari Bibi, whose tomb lies at its heart. Within the walls stand a three-domed garden mosque, the Diwan-i-Aam with its hammam, formal gardens and a small museum of Mughal relics. The metro does not reach Lalbagh: the nearest station is Dhaka University on MRT Line 6, from where a rickshaw or CNG auto-rickshaw takes about 20–25 minutes through the old city toward Azimpur.
